Sundarban Comunity Development Society was established in the year 1978. It was then named as Hemanta Kumari Sasmal Smriti Sangha & Pathagar, registered on 27.03.1978, bearing registration number s/185 of 1977-1978. It was renamed to Sundarban Community Development Society on 04.09.1991 by due order from competent authority.

From the very begining, the society has been acquinted with functions related to education. After renaming its Governing body has resolved to make its main objective to make an Education Complex for the backward class students of the Sundarban.
